Timeline

Summer prior to entering: Pathway advisors will reach out to incoming students to provide guidance on taking placement tests and to register students for appropriate fall courses. In some cases, advisors may recommend a summer class to lay the foundation for student success. A one-day orientation program in July will prepare new students for the semester ahead.

Pathway students have the option to enroll in the Pathway Achievement Summer Series (PASS). The PASS Program offers free workshops to prepare students for the first year of college, with presentations covering the following topics: College 101, Student Involvement, and Academic Preparedness. Specific details and registration information will be provided to the students over the summer.

Fall Semester: Pathway students are registered for courses toward their intended major and assigned a Pathway advisor. In addition to these credit-bearing courses, students are also enrolled in a non-credit College Success seminar. This course will acclimate students to TCNJ by exposing them to college-wide resources, helping them transition to college life, strengthening their study skills, and effectively managing their time. This non-credit course will assist students in developing college expectations and academic rigor. This program encourages students to join clubs and get involved with campus activities.

Spring Semester:  Once the requirements of the program have been met, including a term GPA of 2.3 or higher and successful completion of all courses, students will be fully matriculated in the major listed on their Pathway acceptance letter. At that time students will be assigned an advisor in their area of study. Pathway advisors will stay on as secondary advisors for an additional semester to provide wraparound support.
